How long is an extended period. What are they made of? Anything that can be left for an extended period (which must be over a hour I'm guessing.) Must be a very hard steel and more powerful than other air rifle springs of that size sounds like a kick back nightmare. Also assume that it puts more pressure on the sears affecting wear and trigger pull. Sort of defies the accuracy not power air rifle shooting.

If you want power Vortek are the best, can be left cocked for extended periods, no power loss, I order three at a time to save postage on individual springs, not keen on the latest PG 4 set up with open ends though, too limiting, received three custom cut to my requirements for the exact fps Ineed in the big 56,so I'm set for the foreseeable few years 😁

I've been doing a bit of research on air rifle spring steel. Made a list of types and will see what he has in stock when I head back up in a few days.

Tinbum Tuning also do springs and they are scragged or prepared properly for airguns.

All info and sent a spring for them to copy, he also said he'd set the spring (scrag it)
Which wasn't done. Best stay with Vortek, they make the best, especially for power, ARH are OK but not strong on power. |

That sux, I was going to get a spare spring for weihrauch off him at some stage.
I'll stop in next time Im north and see exactly what sort of steels he has. As he does industrial and mechanical springs, I'd be rather supprised if he didnt have valve quality steel. He offers money back if not satisfied, so I hope you got yours back. |

There is another spring maker in NZ that has limited supplies of the good wire, but by the time I found them I got my vortek springs, my 56TH is now doing just over 19ft lbs in 177 and is back on the rabbits!

That's a bummer.
Seemed to me that when I was in there talking to them they had plenty of wire types. How much info did you give them. |

Hi just saw this thread, I tried Simply Springs (not simple) for main springs for my 56TH, got all excited about a NZ supplier and the cheap cost, ordered 2.
Result, hopeless! Soft spring wire! Lost 50mm when compressed the first time and no use unless you want a 5ftlb rifle. So back to my supplier in the US, VORTEK, ordered 3 custom springs that I use for the 56TH. So in short don't bother for main springs they don't have any valve spring quality spring wire that VORTEK use |

So I settled on the second hardest spring which will clear the air valve at 15 pumps.
All springs fitted well. Buy putting the spring back into the hammer and compressing with my finger, it was relatively easy to feel the differnt resistance and elimate two strait away. Didn't go for the hardest as will at some stage get softer spring made up for valve return spring. Pleased with results. Worth keeping this place in mind for spring replacemts. |

That's good work.
The place in Wellington is called superior springs. I've never been there, but know of it.

He made me 4 hammer springs with varing strengths so I could find out what I prefured. Happy with that for sure. |
