I have a tap.
I am thinking that if the tolerances are good, the printed item could be housed in carbon fibre tube.

So would a silencer 38 mm diameter x 120 mm long for a .22 be do able?

My filament printer has a tolerance of 0.12mm which i used to print this.  If i put the smaller nozzle on i can get it down to 0.06mm. My resin printer will do 0.02mm standard.

So yeah it will get pretty close to what you want. Can print with threads but the threads are not that strong. Best to tap to the thread you need. Depending on what size i probably have a tap here.

Are the tolerances from the printer good? For example if you printed the exit hole 5.5 mm for a .177 or a 6.5 mm for a .22, would it be good enough to stop clipping?

Does the print include the female thread and all, so you print, then just thread it on?

Sorry for noob questions, I have never printed stuff before.

So i shortened the silencer by 20mm to 160. made the internal hole bigger and left the baffles the same. Printed it in one piece this time. Ive put 10 shots through it and it is bang on target now and reduces the sound down just as good. Just have to work on the wall thickness now as it is a bit thin.

Well after more testing with my 3d printed silencer i can say that it is not good. the thing is hitting all over the place. so i shall have a rethink and see if i can come up with a better design. Might try printing it hole instead of in two halves and see if that improves anything.

I just put those 3d printed pellets through the misses crosman fury NP it spat them out at just over 1800fps lol...sounded like a rimfire going off. super loud.

Interesting. 3D printers are amazing and it’s only your imagination that’s the limit to what u can make.

I was thinking the other day, a good project would be a tray to hold pellets in, head first, down a suitable depth and carefully sized hole. The purpose of which is to quickly and easily drop 100 pellets onto the tray, jiggle it around and let the pellets drop into the holes, head first.
Once they are in the holes you can inspect 100 skirts very easily, and reform any damaged ones with the end of a ball point pen if needed.

If you have ever reloaded for powder burners and used a “self righting” tray to get your primers all facing up the right way you’ll know what I’m talking about 😉

as long as it is not longer than 180mm because thats limit of my printer
