Seeing the pictures it now makes sense πŸ‘πŸ» thanks.
Ja, there are two dovetails at the muzzle of the D54, one that makes up the β€œramp” on the front sight, and one cut into the actual metal of the barrel that the whole front sight fits onto.
I have no doubt that a fairly competente machinist like your self would make one up fairly easily.
Walk quietly, but carry a big stick.

Interesting way of doing it. You should have asked and i could have sent down a dovetail cutter which i have laying around doing nothing for the last 3 years lol. But you got the end result just the same. Nice work

So that trigger slides backward on a dove tail as opposed to pivoting around a point?

Pete, here's the trigger I made.

Used the mill to cut profile out of aluminium bar, then fixing at 45 deg in vice I used a 2 mm end mill to cut the dovetail on either side of the main channel.

Put a cut down centre and threaded in a cap screw for clamping. Ta da!

Still needs polishing, but much better than the brass one that it had, as it now has ridges that I can feel with my finger.

So a similar method can be used to make a front mounted ghost ring if you have a dovetail to mount to. That trigger blade is 10 mm wide, so nice and small.
