Still short of time to have a proper go, but had a plink with the old Crosman 600. First shot from new canister was a bit off but next 4 shots pretty bang on.
Not the prettiest pellets but it’s a .22 and limited to flat heads for the semi-auto loading.

Great old bit of kit!

been short on time recently and pistols not sighted in, but hopefully get to have a go soon.

Yep ill pass on a high noon gun fight with ya pauly.
Dont fancy me odds against those center shots and even the outside ones are doing damage.
So is it four targets all up or four targets per style of shooting?
Would seem to me four per style would be the go.
Thought see a few wore targets up by now, it's all fun.

I did my shoot this afternoon. I was tempted to try one handed, but thought I will stick with what I started.

Quite pleased apart from a couple of wayward shots.

One handed unsupported
POA lower right quadrant
3 positions now completed with a 186/300
When a few more scores are posted I 
will load a new spreadsheet as page 3 edit has timed out.
I will revisit with different pistols this summer.


Pleasant enough spot
Some use out of a dead tree 
before it becomes firewood.
Behind bench was the firing line.
Target at shoulder height

That's  pretty impresive Mercs!   I did get a bit of time yesterday for more testing with my pistol on some 3 inch splater targets I have.  Re-testing JSB exacts as they SHOULD be better than the Apolos.  Still more a  gathering than a groupng and  still shooting high.   Should get time over the next few days for more testing with both pelllets I have and if I can either get a consitent aim point or adjust the sights to shoot lower at 6 yards I will shoot another target.

As for the discuson around scoring - my understanding is that if you break the line you score the higher score.  As for 10.1 for a perfect bull - while I have heard of this, I don't beleive we need go this far.  As  Pauly said- a 10 is a 10.  Hell in my case I'd be happy to break the line on a 10  once across 10 shots with my pistol!

While I am competitive,  I'm mostly competitive with myself. I shot a 67 with my first target and I want to do better next time.  I'm interesed in what every one else is doing and very impressed with Mercs latest effort, but I'm not going to argue that a paticular shot is an eight or a nine or get miffed because others are scoring higher than me.  For me it's  all about being out there doing it - and the more that are involved the better - so get those pistols out and start shooting!

Sun came out and wind abated - very confusing.
Bench rest using a bag, the white low and high were each the last of 5.
Having to crouch down to line up the sights was more difficult than expected.
Good fun

I think no need for the .1 for our situation. We certainly don't want to make a deal of this and ruin our fun.

It's just good to know there are fellow air gunners around the country telling their wives they are just popping out to the garage to unite and participate in a nationwide activity. Tongue

Aargh... the old touching line or cutting line debate.
Been going on since for ever in archery.
Personally I think touching a line gets the lower score, cutting through the line (into the next ring) gets the higher score.
As for the 10.1, I understand the reasoning behind it, and at top level competition, the need for it to differentiate between the best of the best, but speaking just for my self, I dont think its warranted at this level and would just complicate things.

PS - been trying to stay out of this thread, but now that I've piped up I guess I'm going to have to go find my self a pistol now...

Hi Pauly, updated page 3 table to reflect inward scoring used at Taranaki Club.

We do not generally use the 10x scoring being discussed but several of the pre-charge and springer users are well capable of multiple "inners".

To differentiate the top end shooters small bore targets have a small dot in the centre circle.

Often called 10x scoring where the dot is completely eliminated helps indicate the .22 calibre shot was fully inside the inner ring then an additional 0.1 is added.

Inner circle
The smallest circle is called the inner circle. • It is used when testing with a flange gauge to determine an inner. • A shot hole completely within the centre circle is called an inner. • This is recorded as .1

I would say that in competitive target shooting the point is that if you can place it perfectly in the centre then you get rewarded.

Doesn't worry me either way.
