All I can say is they are the marketting kings of airguns, unfortunately. Your confusion is a result of their constant attempts at introducing new features.. Mostly just model names etc, but they abbreviate the mundane to make it sound better so they are constantly upselling the same thing. Im not a Gamo fan so im afraid youll not get much good input from me so sorry in advance, some are and so be it , but with so much market share they have no excuse for not scrapping all the SAT, GRT, IGT, CAT, MAXXIM, 10X, CRAP, melting off all that plastic and starting from scratch building a decent quality well built rifle that doesnt kill scopes or new shooters hopes & dreams, with a good trigger at a good price. As the service agent Youngs Airguns has a constant flow of gamo multishots as they break so often - with the smallest wear (they are plastic afterall) they fail so shots dont load properly or jam. The fact that they are onto version 3 after only a couple of years indicates they are in constant need for improvement to be reliable.. Cometa has a very good trigger for a budget rifle, with the only setback being the plastic trigger blade - theres no reason gamo cant develop something as good or better than the cometa (But yes, $115 for a Delta Fox is a good buy - they are lower power so it should be a good shooter compared to their SUPERULTRAMEGAMAGNUM IGT 10X MAXXIPADS) I have a BSA lightning (Gamo era), I put a Knibbs (Theoben Spec) gas ram in it and its just over 11 footpound and very smooth to cock and shoot - its a short cylinder so trying to get more power out of it would be silly. The BSA barrel should be very accurate, and a good reliable powerplant (now). The trigger is actually ok; its heavy but not creepy so the let off is consistent. It techniclaly isnt a 2 stage trigger, but a pseudo-2 stage trigger - the sprung blade pivots slightly to give the feeling of a first stage before reaching the let off. Its odd, but works buts its still an example of Gamos masking tape fixes rather than spending the time to redevelop.

I’ve just won a guncity trade me auction for a gamo delta fox gt whisper.
Not sure what all that means, except the whisper part (means it has a silencer). In some adverts and marketing it is called a youth rifle, well I hope so because i intend to give it to my son. It sells in store for $270, I won the auction with $115, so I guess the price was right 😉 As soon as I can I’ll give it an accuracy test and some pics. |

Have to agree, I have two SATs one reworked by an engineer to gain some feel which is sadly missing when new. Sort of important to be able to tell when your rifle will fire.
The CAT trigger is an improvement when incorporated on the mid power models but that was some years ago and they do not appear to have advanced, I must look at latest reviews. I recall Gamo bought out BSA and came out with Lightning and Spitfire models but did not manage to take the airgun world by storm, if members have a BSA version how is the trigger and what about a post. When a Gamo was sub $500 was it acceptable to have some components of a lesser standard. Prices have moved with many Gamo rifles priced closer to $1000 over the last 12 months. Less power and build on technology gains when next around the design table is my suggestion. I have many favoured Gamo's and after much practice the accuracy is always limited by the trigger or perhaps that is true across many brands. What cost does a good trigger add, when looking at other brands I will suggest $400 so hard to stay competitive. Keep the posts coming |

Yes, your observations are "on target". FTT was one of my early pellet trials.
H&N Baracuda Hunter Extreme 1.21 grammes 19.09 grains is everyday pellet of choice. Knocks the fps edge off but also very reliable in the 10 shot magazine. Currently have the autoloader removed and enjoy the rifle in its less complicated form and it would be a lot easier to experiment with pellets. H&N Baracuda Match 1.37 grammes 21.14 grains 5.51mm is heavier but with full dome head may gain some accuracy.

Marc’s,
Your G magnum is pushing a 14.6gr pellet at 950fps…! That’s really screaming for a pellet. Very likely getting unstable down range which could efffect accuracy? I’d try a heavier pellet, see if the extra weight can slow it down to around 850fps. Maybe even try a light 20ish grain slug in that bad boy? |

CAT = Custom Action Trigger SAT = Smooth Action Trigger G Magnum are a work out.
Black Knight is my most successful hunter with CAT2 trigger probably at the edge.
Shadow series can be very accurate as the SAT trigger is very usable at this power

Thanks Mercs,
So the shadow = light weight. G magnum = full power And Mach 1 is an oversized piston, (physically a bigger size gun?) Still quite powerful but not at G mag strength. |
