I got put onto this a year or so back but it was through a utube video from a ft shooter.
Found this written description which is a way better.
Read thru the comments too, theres a way to do it if you cant foucus down to a meter or so.
Particularly useful for shimmed scopes i found.
https://airgunaccuracy.wordpress.com/chairgun-and-scope-height/

Ballistic calculators : Generally speaking - use either...

    Author: Declan
Subject: 916
Posted: 15 Oct 2023 at 9:57am

Generally speaking - use either G1 or GA. GA was developed for airgun pellets which is the one I prefer.
The scope height is the measurement from the centre of the objective lens to the centre of the bore.
E.g for a springer using verniers measure the diameter of the front/objective lens end of the scope ( including the body) and divide by two. Then measure the distance from the bottom of the objective lens case/body to the top of the compression tube. Then measure the distance from the top of the compression tube to the centre of the bore. Add the 3 measurements and you have the scope height.
An alternative is that some people measure from the centre of the scope ring to the top of the compression tube. Not 100% accurate but for some people it’s close enough. There’s plenty of more detailed information on the web, but I hope this very rough and ready explanation helps.

It is good to get the calculated aim points figured out so that it makes it quicker to verify in practise.

My experience of the app is that it produces accurate firing solutions - for me anyway.
