I'm guessing that's right. If you come to shoot on my section and spook animals, then you are the cause of the injury.
You should be aware of things like loudness of gun etc.
Same for ricochet, your supposed to know what's around your area of aim.

You could discuss that with them possibly getting them to accept responsibility. Or if you have a few perms, divide the premium between them all and that can be their fee. Or just have your own strict rules on where you will shoot.

All my rabbit shooting is recreational too, I do it volunteerly, to help out the property owners who have rabbit problems, I don’t get paid for any of it.
But someone said to me the other day, if a horse gets a fright, jumps a fence and breaks a leg, the shooter could be liable. Or if a ricochet goes through a neighbours glass sliding door, the shooter could be liable…?
Even though we’re not getting paid and have been invited onto the property and asked to shoot the rabbits, we could still be held liable for things like that 🤔
Dosent seem right, but it’s probably true.
I’ve looked into quotes for public liability cover, it’s going to cost about 1k a year for 1mil cover.

All my rabbit perms are recreational, so no. But I don;t think i'd need it.

We have insurance for our pest control work and shooting comes under that, but that's manly pest birds.

Hi Folks,
Here is a question to everyone who does “pest control” on someone else’s property.
Do you carry your own personal Public Liability cover?
Do you think it is necessary, yes or no?
Would you need it if you were “hunting” on someone else’s property?
What ever you think I’d love to hear your reasons and thoughts on the topic.
