not sure of your tech knoedge but this site has some info ( it's an anodizing specialist) particually about how different grades of alli and how the metal finish affect the way the anodise appears, colour it turns, and issues in the alli that anodising will pick up.You may find something in there.

i need some black metal dye to colour anodized alli does anyone know where i can get this metal dye or something i can use for this,have tryed lot dyes but wasnt happy with the results runout of ideas now.
