    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="www.kiwiairgunners.co.nz/member_profile.asp?PF=815">Ashman</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 592<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 01&nbsp;Jun&nbsp;2026 at 8:54pm<br /><br />The back straps of Hare from a spring young animal are superb eating.&nbsp; Like all game meat, it gets tougher in winter and as they get older with, less fat but those ones you slow cook over a low fire for 2 -3 hours, just simmering.&nbsp; &nbsp; Add garlic, red onion, capsicum and fresh herbs, or dried is that what you have.&nbsp; Very much like Fallow deer tenderloins and I've had the back steaks named as such by folk who've eaten them.<div>&nbsp;</div>]]>

Once the heart stops so does the ability to pump adrenaline through the body. Having said that I'll take the head shot. At night with the red light I've found they are more prone to sit up and listen that's ideal to locate the heart. Any shot that is a clean kill is the best shot. ]]>

The only ones worth eating are the headshot ones Ive take. one with the wrong bullet placement and it ran for a while before expiring was full of adrenalin and when cooked we had to throw it out.&nbsp;]]>

I then put the hare directly over them and turn once you see the flesh lightly brown, then move them off the direct heat to the other side to cook at a slower pace. I eat the back straps, rear legs. ]]>
