Author: Grey Kiwi
Subject: 1397
Posted: 24 Jul 2026 at 5:18pm

Bought these to try them out as the QYS are all gone. No more in NZ.

Tried the RWS R10...not as good as QYS Olympic (wadcutter style).

Then bought these...

and also not good at all.

They shot to same POA as the QYS Olympic but would throw a wobbly 9 (not a 10) every 3rd or 4th shot.

I was on a double card and shot only a 96.1 on the first card thanks to the fliers. Moved to the second card and luckily had taken some QYS with me too. Used them and shot a 100.7 for that card.

I had only fired a few of the JSB the week before when testing and they seemed to shoot well which is why I chose to use them.

Sadly, they were terrible when used on a full target card.

Checked them out when I got home and saw there was a lot of lead dust and slivers in the bottom of the tin. Washed the little suckers, then cleaned up inside the skirt with a cotton bud (yeah...every single pellet!). Took a while...but man did I get some nasty lead slivers out from inside those skirts. So big that the hot soapy wash didn't remove them.

Anyway, air dried the pellets and lubed with a spay of PTFE dry lube. Then weighed each pellet...and they are not too bad for weight difference between pellets.

I think the fliers were caused by the dirty pellets and the lead swarf in them.

Have to test them again now I've cleaned and weighed them. They may be OK after that. If not it's just another tin of pellets to toss out.

If they have settled down and shoot OK then I'm in for some long boring nights cleaning pellets as I'll have to get a few more tins of them.
