If its a NZ new mkiii TX200, itll be the full power model (around 15fpe), mine loved JSB exact heavy 10.34gr.

It is a .177

The HW97K was also a .177 but that went. Would have got that as well with a nice laminated stock.

Hi,
 Just to say that the TX200 arrived from Andy Mayberry and it a fine solid airgun and a good place to start. Once we get a scope mounted up we can do some indoor sighting in at our factory to see how things go.

I talked to Ron in Auckland at Youngs about a rifle bag and a scope so he is pointing me in the right direction.

We will get to grips with the basics and go from there. 

The journey has begun.....

From what I've seen on YouTube most seem to use a magnification of between 8-12x and 40-50mm objective lens.  Also some form of half-mildot reticule as with HFT hold overs and hold unders are key.

With HFT the scopes are generally lower powered than FT shooting scopes because you cant adjust them on range and it is pretty much point and shoot. I found the my 3-9x32 was very good. people have their own favorites and setups and im sure there will be someone here that can be more useful than me on this.

Thanks for that advice.

The range management are planning to amend the RSO’s for the shotgun range which has been certified for pistol and rifle already. That I am happy about to be honest.

I will report back in due course.

I have managed to get hold of Andy Mayberry, unfortunately the Weirauch 97 was sold but I have the TX coming for a look, maybe tomorrow. Will need to find a scope before we can do some bench testing. 

Any recommendations of a particular model for HFT use?

One thing t keep in mind. Just because you already have a certified shotgun range does not mean you are automatically covered. You will probably have to get / update your Ammunition Danger Area (ADA) Template and get it checked off by the police since you will be adding lanes to the range. also another thing that needs to be looked at is the Cone of fire (COF) for each target. They are very anal about all of this sort of thing now.


Keep us updated on this because it would be very interesting to see what they say

Hi,

The range would be outdoor and is part of an unused portion of our already certified shotgun range. We have an area 20m wide and ranging from 10m out to 40 deep from the firing line for target positioning. It is 10-33m on the flat ground (grass) and then an 11m high sloping mound behind out to 40m where targets can be located on the slope.

I plan to build permanent benches and places to either stand (benchrest style) or for supervised kids to shoot seated from a raised platform. I can build in shooting positions and expand if there is a need. Its a bit of a see how we go arrangement. It seems that in the Uk the shooter is at a table arranged side by side.

Besides the fixed airgun range located at our shooting complex,I would be keen to create an HFT layout in a (private) forest area. We are well versed in shooting range certification and have access to safety plans and standing order compilation. It’s early days but nothing like a bit of forward planning.

Those Pardini look awesome! Im still saving pennies to try and get a K12 at some stage but not quite there yet. I was emailing with Simon as well as he had a P10 floating around that I was interested in as a project! He was going to try find it again but I never heard back...
