Interesting review Mercs.

The lack of seal with out a sharp sudden burst of air makes sence.
Guess there is a reason why they say PCP's only.

They would probably be good pretty accurate for close range work, out to 10m (most pellets are).

Green pellets through CO2 powered Airgun.

Pellet always remained in barrel at first attempt.
Generally but not always exited on second CO2 burst.
I could hear the gas passing the pellet confirming the flare was not sealing.
On the chronograph greens tested slower than a lead pellet confirming ineffective seal.
Pellets tended to tear the target so were tumbling.

Before loading the pellet head measured 5.54mm and skirt 5.72mm.
After failed discharge attempt the pellet head measured 5.54mm and skirt 5.59mm.
The head displayed clear markings from the rifling grooves.

Lack of sealing could be in the breech design of this unit so I will
change airguns and test again.

Umarex 850 M2 scoped with Nikko Stirling 3-9x40
20 yards bench-rest


Baseline with RWS Superdome 585 fps 20mm OD


Green pellet test 503 fps 75mm OD
Changed CO2 capsule and repeated with similar result.

Nice info Kruza.

I put one green pellet through the Gamo Magnum (29 ft/lbs) and definitely supersonic.
When warm day's return I will also check accuracy at lower fps through a CO2 powered rifle or pistol as a comparison.

Hardness and Sealing Issues:
Unlike soft lead, the tin alloy in FTT Green pellets does not deform easily to form a seal in the barrel, which can cause them to lodge in the barrel of lower-powered springers or CO2 guns.
Pressure Differences:
PCPs deliver a sharp blast of air that propels the pellet instantly, whereas springers build pressure more gradually.
Safety/Warranty:
To prevent user complaints about stuck pellets and potential damage claims, H&N recommends them only for PCP rifles.
Effectiveness:

It would be interesting to find out why only pcp. One or two in pocket could provide a quick barrel in clean in field though from sounds of it.

The 100% lead free has a cost.

H&N FTT Green $35 per tin (200) = 17.5 cents each
H&N FTT Lead $20 per tin (250) = 8 cents each

I found the Green pellets cleaned or stripped the bore requiring leading in of subsequent pellets.
At greater distance the accuracy quickly deteriorates.
With higher shot counts the accuracy deteriorates.
Tin is labelled "For PCP rifles only" and I have requested an explanation from H&N.
Web site has the green alloy containing tin, zinc, iron and plastic.


Outdoors 20 yards, poor conditions with light rain and breeze from right.
Norica ZRS using Zero Tech Vengeance scope on 16 power.
Pellet H&N FTT Green 0.62g 5.50mm 3 shot group 11.94mm OD

Outdoors 20 yards, poor conditions with light rain and breeze from right.
Norica ZRS using Zero Tech Vengeance scope on 16 power.
Pellet H&N FTT 0.95g 4.53mm 3 shot group 11.41mm OD

25 yards indoors practice session, inward scoring 4 shot groups with measured OD.
Mixed results and not competitive with several other springer users shooting 200's.
POA centre with no correction, the lighter pellet may actually need a different rifle or technique.



I will check at higher velocity and undertake chronograph checks.
