If not there is no advantage to using a hollow point pellet with that rifle.
3- What size grouping do you need, at what distance, to effectively be able to dispatch the pest?
4- Is the rifle/pellet combination in question able to produce such groups from that rifle? If not there is no point using that pellet in that rifle.
They tend to go wobbly after 30-35yds....

The best overall accuracy at all ranges are the normal diabolo round-noses. They are far more accurate than all the other types....

Therefore, according to him (and me), you're wasting your money on the "gimmicky" pellets (pointy, hollow, etc) if you want to achieve best accuracy.

I expect its a different matter for slugs (?) but with pellets, I recommend you find the best normal diabolo round-nose pellet that suits your particular barrel and you'll have the most accurate solution for all ranges.

PS: Gary Wain (the author) also tested a variety of hollow points for accuracy. He tested Dynamic Triple P1's, RWS Super H Points, BSA Interceptors, SMK Victory Implodes, Bisley Pest Control, Beeman Crow Mag, Ultrashock HP, Rem Baracuda Hunter, H&N Baracuda Hunter, Precision Ballistics Mako and Bisley Superfields.

He found in his (Pulsar) barrels that the Bisley Superfields were best, the SMK Victory Implodes were the worst. But none of them matched the normal round-nosed pellets.....
