Is there a reason you are shooting them? The most human way if your holding it in one hand would be a quick neck twist. It would be quicker and less chance of missing if it flaps or moves suddenly. No pass through. Not a hard thing to master. Pete, the Crosman 2240 would be pretty hard to beat.  I know it's CO2 but they're very easy to use and excellent value for the money.  Ron Young has them for $295.  His pricing for multiple CO2 powerlets is cheapest in the country.

I have a pretty much mint break barrel Gamo P900 which I seem to recall 200 or maybe 220 fps you can trial and buy if you like for $200, rated up to 105 m/s = 344 f/s so my 220 fps on 10.65 gr Barracudas sounds about right.

I guess too powerful and CO2 rules it out but...If you're wanting to dispatch many pigeons over a small time frame the Crosman 10 shot CO2 powered revolver would work well - I was planning to poach some ducks at a local lake for my old Mum's last feed of duck. But she died so no poached ducks died...Rated up to 435 fps and you get quite a few 10 shot mags before the power drops away enough to matter. And thanks to Ron I have a few 10 shot mags...

You're welcome to take both away and try them out any time you like. But the cowboys like the Crosman as it is a life size mostly steel revolver and they go for silly money these days.

I have a HW40 Single-stroke pneumatic pistol. I get 450fps with 8.44 jsb. it is good but I would be weary on this sort of style because the pistols have short barrels and cocking them is difficult. and if you have a lot of birds to dispatch you will soon be over cocking it every time.

I would be looking at C02 powered due to the easy loading even tho you have said you do not want to go down that road.

Hi Folks,

I'm looking for suggestions and recommendations on low power air pistols.
I have a specific use in mind, which is to humanely dispatch trapped pigeons.
I will be holding the pigeon in my left hand and dispatching it with my right hand, point blank, muzzel to the back of the head, so it dosent need to be accurate or powerful, it just needs to get a pellet out the barrel.

I have thought about a priest or a hammer or a captive bolt and a few other things, but I'm just going through all the options to work out which would be the easiest, quickest, most effective, easiest to carry, cheapest etc.
I'm not interested in anything thats BB or co2 powered, must be a break barrel or a pumper.

GunCity sells the following:
Benjaman trail nitro piston. .177
Crossman american classic P 1322 which I think is a pumper? .177 or .22

Any one used either of these? got any info on them?
Or any other low power pistols that anyone can suggest?
