Adaptation is the key.... Not many ranges quite like NRC , most are very flat and comfy where you're shooting from. The wind would of been the biggest problem for you.

I had two problems. First was the wind (like everyone) the second I was not expecting so many up hill lanes to be there. I have never shot uphill lanes before and it really took me by surprise. I didnt have a shooting position for up hills that i am comfortable with. But this will change now. I have already rang my sister and sorted out some shooting at her place (she lives on a hill with 2 acres) I can see i will be spending most weekends at her place from now on. :)

True, did some more scope testing yesterday, according to the results there's no reason why I scored so low (for me) apart from misreading the wind. 14yards = 1 hole groups (5 shots) , 27 yards is the same, just a ragged hole. I probably would of but where is the challenge in that? I would of had a un-fair advantage with the huge scope i have.

NRC put on another challenging course, and the second half saw the breeze come in, averaging 27mph...
The trial run with the mtc scope seemed to be going well, but the second half meant it was hard to see what was happening, and the drop in points isn't reflective of the scope, just the conditions.
This event you didn't have a clue what the course was worth points wise. Just impossible to put a number on.
I really think in this event, one had to be happy with what they shot, as it was to easy to get it wrong and extremely hard to get it right. My guess is the worlds could be similar, but with winds from the south which well be more dense but more consistent.

Unless you shoot these conditions on a course like this often, then forget the worlds. You'll be no where..fast, good luck to the overseas competitors :)

Whatever end of the country you're at there's one on this weekend , both Wellington and Waikato are hosting rounds this Sunday 30th
Details of each:

Venue: Granada Park, Wellington

Cost: $20
Sighting range opens: 8.30am
Competition Starts: 10am

The event is shot on 25 targets, once in the morning and a repeated in the afternoon.
Timing is required on each and every target

Tea and coffee will be provided, just maybe we'll be lucky enough to have some goodies   

NRC will be using this event for club championship including our Pro class.
NRC certificates will be presented to top 3 in each class.

NRC will put up $20 for the first person to knock down the infamous “target 13”. Cost is $1 to register for this.

Grenada Park is not a flat paddock or like any other range anywhere providing a good challenge for all.
Access is good and even in the wettest weather, its quite dry underfoot.
This event will be held what every the weather, though it's quite a good forecast this far out!




Waikato

This Sunday 10am sharp, sighting from 9.15-9.45am, weather looking good too.
Tea/coffee, biscuits provided but bring your own lunch and water if required.
$20 per shooter includes certificate
